Venice Beach and Santa Monica
Nathan arrived last night, and today I figured we’d do a touristy, California kind of thing – the Venice Beach boardwalk.
And it was pretty fun. The sun was bright and the weather was good, and the people were out in force. At one point we were stopped by nurses trying to sell us medical marijuana (maybe if she’d been in a bikini instead of a white doctor’s coat…). We walked the entire length and back.
Bought a few tee shirts, including one for Aviva that reads, “Shut up voices, or I’ll poke you with a Q-Tip again!” I also got an XL Pink Floyd “Wish You Were Here” shirt, which I’ve wanted since college.

Aviva was going gallery hopping while we walked around, so we hooked back up and went up to Santa Monica.
Aviva found a really cool book store, Hennessey + Ingalls Bookstore. Aviva bought The Chapel of the Magi: Benozzo Gozzoli’s Frescoes in the Palazzo Medici-Riccardi Florence and Anatomy of a Restoration: the Brancacci Chapel, while I got three paper model kits:
- Moulin Rouge Windmill
- Ishtar Gate
- d-torso Mouse
We walked around a little, had dinner at an Italian place on the Promenade, which wasn’t very good, and then came home, ate dinner and watched “Citizen Toxie: the Toxic Avenger Part 4” (yes, my son is into some weird videos).
