The canals of Venice (California)
We’ve lived here over 6 years and still haven’t seen a lot of California (yet). So we decided to check out the canals of Venice, CA. We took the dogs, they had a terrific time smelling everything. The original canals were designed by Abbot Kinney, one of the early developers of Venice – the ones there now date back to 1905. It is beautiful and quiet there, and we did see a duck – and it smelled like the Amsterdam canals and the water was quite green. All in all it was quite enjoyable, wish I could afford to live there!
We then walked around Venice a bit, visiting Obsolete Gallery and especially down Abbot Kinney Blvd. (named after the same guy) which is a good shopping area.
