If you want to understand more about the internet, this is a great book. Where most books tell you about web browsers and on-line apps, this book will tell you about the real, physical internet. It starts with the author’s problem with squirrels disrupting his home internet service, and then passes through the connection points, concentrators and even trans-oceanic cables (including a first-hand description of pulling the end of a cable up on a beach and connecting it up).
