Continental Art Supply and the Getty Museum
Today we started at Continental Art Supply and the Bead Shop next door; we had lunch at Mort’s Delicatessen, a good lunch spot in the valley. Then we drove down to the Getty Museum to see the exhibition “Heaven, Hell, and Dying Well: Images of Death in the Middle Ages” which was drawn from their collection. It was a nice if small show with a lot of neat information about the growth of thoughts on death through medieval times. We then crossed to the other side of the gallery to see the show “Drama and Devotion: Heemskerck’s “Ecce Homo” Altarpiece from Warsaw” which features Heemskerck’s famous triptych. We sat down for a soda; it was certainly in the 90s up on the hill with hazy sunshine so taking a break was in order! We shopped at the museum store – checking in on FourSquare gave us a 20% discount! Then we drove home – the car said it was 109 degrees in the valley.
