You Are Not A Gadget (review)

This is a fantastic book.  If you spend time thinking about the impact of technology on daily life you’ll want to read this.

Jaron Lanier is an early hacker, and he has a very different take on the how we view and use technology. Instead of freeing us, technology has made us less creative and less unique, the opposite of what many of us thought would be the future thanks to more and more powerful computers. I’m pretty sure I don’t agree with Mr. Lanier’s suggestions for solutions to the problems he sees, but I think the problem statements and discussions are worth the time for reading this book.
