My notes from the Toastmasters Leadership Institute (TLI) for District 1
I attended the TLI on July 8, 2011 at California State University, Dominguez Hills. As usual, I stayed for the whole day, first attending president’s training (I’m president this year for WLE Toastmasters club) and the advanced leadership training afternoon session.
As usual, I took notes in my iPhone – here’s what I came away with:
- Greet guests – guest packet? Greeting role? Guest seating?
- Themed meetings including ‘costume’ decor
- Run a backwards meeting
- Toastsourcecentral.Wordpress.com
- Co-role to help a 1st time functionary
- Should we share progress w/ members? Every meeting?
- More effective mentoring?
- Why are our officers officers?
- Have evaluators read objectives before start
- The “Nearly Competent” award at 5 speeches
- Have general evaluator show CL manual
- Assign CL evaluators
- Have SAA do a 2 min warning and mention manuals for both speakers and CLs
- Mentor on CL too
- General evaluator should briefly evaluate the evaluators
- VPM or VPPR should email guests
Hope that helps some of you in making your Toastmasters clubs even more brilliant!
