Saw the movie Capote – yep, I think Phillip Seymore Hoffman deserved his Oscar.

This book is classified as a novel, but is really non-fiction, the story of a gruesome family slaying in rural Kansas. I can’t believe I haven’t read this book before – its really fantastic. The images are haunting and the depth to which Capote goes to transmit the fear this crime created in the heartland is deep. This book made me compare how I feel now with how I felt growing up (for example, the first time my family decided to lock our doors at night).
