Mutants: On Genetic Variety and the Human Body

Read this book on my most recent flight home from Amsterdam – I saw it in one of the bookstores in the secure area at Schiphol airport, its was sitting on a table and called to me to read it!

It is an excellent survey of common mutations that occur in humans, along with descriptions of some of the theories and experiments that have lead to knowing more about mutation. The type is very small and the tone is scholarly but very readable; there are many pages of endnotes.

If you’re curious why people look the way they do (and perhaps die early) then you might want to read this one.
