Arriving in London

We ate, got cleaned up and rode out the airport. We had an inconsequential flight to London – the good news is that the plane was actually spacious. We took the high speed train from Heathrow to Paddington Station (15 minutes) and got a cab to our hotel.

The weather is just wonderful – we’re not wearing our jackets and the sun is out! We dropped off our things and took the same cab right down to the British Museum.

We spent a few hours browsing the classical collection, taking lots more pictures than are here. This is a definite required stop in London – they have the Rosetta Stone, which allowed for the translation of hierogliphics, and the Elgian Marbles, the Parthenon metopies and pediment. I bought a little book called The Little Money Book by David Boyle – its “a provocative view of the way money works.” We walked through the money exhibit also.

We had dinner at Thai Garden just across the street from the museum. We walked down Oxford Street, which is a big shopping area, and then cabbed back to our hotel.

We checked in – we’re in the Comfort Inn Kings Cross. The room is tiny, kind of dark and a little dirty feeling; Aviva said she felt a little ominous in the room! We’re still figuring out how to set everything up so we can get around. But, its a place to crash, and crash we did.
