St. Mark's

Our hotel is right on a small canal, which explains why there is an odd odor when we open the window. However, its worth the odor to hear a guitar or accordion played on a passing gondola.
We walked less than five minutes and spilled out onto St. Mark's Square and Basilica. The square is surrounded with expensive little shops. The Basilica is full of mosaics, which are more time consuming and difficult to make than frescos but last much longer.
We also went to two more churches and bought a couple of carnevale masks. We also saw the Museo Correr, an art gallery. Lunch was wonderful but it was cold and drizzly all day.
