Around town
You are viewing an old revision of this post, from February 28, 2018 @ 19:42:06. See below for differences between this version and the current revision.
We did the Palazzo Medici Riccardi, which was another Medici residence. There is a dynamite chapel upstairs in this building with a full-surround frescoe in exceptional condition. The frescoe tells the story of the Magi, with various real-life participants (including a portrait of Lorenzo Medici) and vivid color.
We went back to the toy store 1/2 block down the street, and I bought a 54mm metal kit for an Italian Codottieri (a mercenary from the renaissance).
We then took a cab to San Mineato, an old church that overlooks Firenze from a hill – the view is not to be missed. We walked part way down the hill and had gelatos (Italian ice cream, often in fruit flavors and often containing egg to make it that much richer – truly wonderful). Eating gelato is a wonderful thing when overlooking Firenze on a warm sunny day. We ate in a Chinese ristorante (the food was only okay, but it was a nice change of pace).
