{"id":681,"date":"2008-09-28T18:24:14","date_gmt":"2008-09-29T01:24:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.alephnaught.com\/Blog\/?p=681"},"modified":"2008-09-28T18:24:14","modified_gmt":"2008-09-29T01:24:14","slug":"there-may-be-value-in-sleeping-on-it-after-all","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.alephnaught.com\/Blog\/2008\/09\/28\/there-may-be-value-in-sleeping-on-it-after-all\/","title":{"rendered":"There may be value in sleeping on it after all"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content_div-681\">\n<p>I&#8217;ve been fighting back against making snap decisions at the office.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;ve been thinking about this for a while, and I&#8217;ve found that I rarely had to make a fast decision, that gathering a little information and, most importantly, sleeping on it, or taking time out where I&#8217;m not directly thinking about the problem, aid in coming up with a better decision.<\/p>\n<p>And now I find an article in the New York Times agreeing with me, &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2008\/09\/28\/technology\/28proto.html?ref=technology\" target=\"_blank\">We&#8217;ll Fill This Space, but First a Nap<\/a>.&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 I quote from the article:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Some sort of incubation period, in which a person leaves an idea for a while, is crucial to creativity.
