I got a Magic Mouse<\/a> with my Mac Pro<\/a>, and I’ve had a lot of issues with batteries – it doesn’t use them especially quickly, but it’s not great about warning me as the battery charge goes down, and eventually the mouse doesn’t respond properly to movement. I was walking around the local Apple Store<\/a> and saw the Magic Charger<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Magic Charger comes in a striking box appropriate for an Apple<\/a> 3rd party product. It comes with no paper instructions – the instructions are printed on the inside of the box, otherwise you’ll need to download the PDF instructions<\/a> from Mobee. The product comes in two parts: a replacement rechargeable battery pack that replaces the batteries and bottom door on the Magic Mouse, and a recharging station that connects via USB to the computer. The battery is charged by placing the mouse on the charging station – no plugging the mouse in, it uses wireless technology to charge the mouse. The unit came uncharged, and since the instructions didn’t say to charge it first I downloaded the PDF to see, and no, no instructions on that, so plan to charge it for an hour or so before using it (have a spare mouse handy).<\/p>\n

And it works as advertised – it seems the batteries hold a charge for a long time (I haven’t tested how long yet, the instructions state 6-7 days), and it shows the battery charge at about 75% when fully charged; the instructions state that the rechargeable batteries have slightly lower current than standard alkaline batteries, and that’s why it never shows as fully charged to the Mac. The charging station has a small LED that glows green when fully charged, flashes green when charging, and shows red when the mouse isn’t on the station). The station is small and light weight so you could travel with it.<\/p>\n

I’m very happy with this product so far – it’s working great, gives me a good place to keep my mouse when I’m not using it, and I’m not having sluggish mouse movement due to battery discharge anymore. Sweet!<\/p>\n
