I had today off from work, and the rain finally subsided, so we decided to bundle up the dogs and head to the Great Wall of Los Angeles<\/a>, which is not far from where we live.\u00c2\u00a0 Here’s the description from Gowalla:<\/p>\n

“The Great Wall of Los Angeles is a mural designed by Judith Baca and executed by community youth and artists coordinated by the Social and Public Art Resource Center (SPARC). It is located on the eastern edge of the Valley College campus on the concrete sides of the Tujunga Wash, part of the drainage system of Los Angeles, California. With a length of 2,754 feet (840 m), it is credited as one of the longest murals in the world. There is a restoration effort in progress.” – Created by Jerin Crandell<\/a> on January 28, 2010<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It really is amazing, we walked a little over half the length (Aviva has a stress fracture in her foot so we tried to keep the walking light) – the style is like that of Diego Rivera, and for artwork that’s sitting outside, unprotected, its in wonderful shape (it was recently restored).<\/p>\n
