{"id":392,"date":"2008-06-08T07:38:18","date_gmt":"2008-06-08T14:38:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.alephnaught.com\/Blog\/?p=392"},"modified":"2008-06-09T06:00:31","modified_gmt":"2008-06-09T13:00:31","slug":"changing-minds-in-small-ways","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.alephnaught.com\/Blog\/2008\/06\/08\/changing-minds-in-small-ways\/","title":{"rendered":"Changing minds in small ways"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content_div-392\">\n<p>I read an article in today&#8217;s NY Times with some interest: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2008\/06\/08\/world\/europe\/08clichy.html?ref=world\" target=\"_blank\">Giving Young French Muslims a Close Look at the US<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While working a lot in Amsterdam, I came to realize that many Europeans view our government policies and the opinions of people on the street as the same;  so, I&#8217;ve wondered how we could change that kind of thinking, because its not true.  If anything, I think we&#8217;re more similar to the Danish than the rest of Europe, in that we tend to have fierce individual independence.<\/p>\n<p>There is a program run by the US to bring young future leaders of Europe here for 21 days to experience the US (I was going to say culture, but I&#8217;m less sure we have one).
