{"id":3605,"date":"2000-04-05T19:13:12","date_gmt":"2000-04-06T02:13:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.alephnaught.com\/Blog\/?p=3605"},"modified":"2018-02-28T11:40:45","modified_gmt":"2018-02-28T19:40:45","slug":"san-marco-and-the-academia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.alephnaught.com\/Blog\/2000\/04\/05\/san-marco-and-the-academia\/","title":{"rendered":"San Marco and the Academia"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content_div-3605\">\n<p>On the way to San Marco, we saw a toy store that sells military  miniatures,    which are plastic or metal kits that can be assembled and painted to  look like    the uniforms and people that fought in wars a long time ago; I used to  paint    miniatures for a hobby when I was young, so I bought a couple of  Airfix plastic    kits of Henry VIII and Ann Bollyn. Perhaps I&#8217;ll start painting again  (I&#8217;m psyched!).    We then continued on to <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/San_Marco,_Florence\" target=\"_blank\">San  Marco<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There we a bunch of groups of French schoolchildren, the girls looking  like    picture postcards from Paris, so we had to wait to get into San Marco  for about    20 minutes. The facade is similar to the facade of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alephnaught.com\/Blog\/2000\/04\/03\/how-many-churches-can-you-see\/#SantaCroce\">Santa     Croce<\/a>. Beato (Fra) Angelico lived and painted at San Marco for  most of his    life, and the frescos are stunning.
