{"id":224,"date":"2007-12-08T08:49:49","date_gmt":"2007-12-08T08:49:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/alephnaught.wordpress.com\/?p=241"},"modified":"2007-12-08T08:49:49","modified_gmt":"2007-12-08T08:49:49","slug":"spertus-museum-reopened-and-the-one-of-a-kind-sale","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.alephnaught.com\/Blog\/2007\/12\/08\/spertus-museum-reopened-and-the-one-of-a-kind-sale\/","title":{"rendered":"Spertus Museum reopened and the One of a Kind sale"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content_div-224\">\n<p>We did two things this week to take my mind off of my job search.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spertus.edu\/museum\/\" target=\"_blank\">Spertus Museum<\/a>, which is attached to the Spertus College here in Chicago, is a Jewish museum and educational facility on Michigan Avenue. \u00c2\u00a0 We went in on Thursday this week to check out their new digs &#8211; its a really nice building, very open, bright and airy. \u00c2\u00a0The old space was claustraphobic, but this one is really beautiful. \u00c2\u00a0We had lunch at their cafe, which is kosher food from Wolfgang Puck, all prepackaged except the soups but all properly sealed. \u00c2\u00a0We both had salads which were very good. \u00c2\u00a0The exhibit on display was disappointing &#8211; an exhibit of &#8220;art&#8221; by Jews in the west.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday we went to the &#8220;One of a Kind&#8221; sale at the Merchandise Mart. \u00c2\u00a0Its a huge sale with at least a hundred people from all over the world selling interesting things. \u00c2\u00a0One company sold harps and psaltries; Aviva bought two sets of earrings from a woman that uses antique beads in her work.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"translate_block\" style=\"display: none;\">\n<hr class=\"translate_hr\" \/>\n<a class=\"translate_translate\" id=\"translate_button_post-224\" lang=\"en\" xml:lang=\"en\" href=\"javascript:show_translate_popup('en', 'post', 224);\"><span>Translate<\/span><\/a><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.alephnaught.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/google-ajax-translation\/transparent.gif?resize=16%2C16&#038;ssl=1\" id=\"translate_loading_post-224\" class=\"translate_loading colorbox-224\" style=\"display: none;\" width=\"16\" height=\"16\" alt=\"\" \/>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We did two things this week to take my mind off of my job search.
