I&#8217;ve always been interested in language, especially since I don&#8217;t seem able to learn much of anything other than basic English (and Java, Python, &#8230;).<\/p>\n<p>This book is a good introduction.  It touches briefly on the spoken word, but only as it relates to the written word.  There are plentiful pictures and just enough text to keep interest going.
