I’m glad I did.

This is typical Jared Diamond – lots of fun anecdotes, factoids and strange connections. The basic thesis of this book is that human sexuality is quite different than most animals, but its developed due to evolution and survival of the fitest. Some of the connections, for example gibbons which are monogomist and only copulate every four years, are interesting when compared with humans (who are somewhat monogomist but pair, hopefully, a little more often).

This is a very short and good read – you’ll have cocktail conversation for weeks from this one!

Translate

Title: Why Is Sex Fun?: The Evolution of Human Sexuality Author: Jared Diamond Paperback: 176 pages Publisher: Basic Books (November 1998) ISBN: 0465031269 I’ve read Guns, Germs and Steel and Collapse – I liked both of them, so when I saw this book on the shelf at Borders I grabbed it.
