We visited the Palm Springs Art Museum to see the retrospective of Wayne Thiebaud titled “70 Years of Painting.”\u00c2\u00a0 Thiebaud became famous in the ’60s with his thick, realistic paintings of deserts on display.\u00c2\u00a0 The retrospective began with his early drawings, some from high school, and then continued through recent work (Thiebaud is still an active artist).<\/p>\n

On the way out I saw a very cool piece of art by Yoshimoto Nara, “Young Dog,” which is his largest dog sculpture.<\/p>\n

We stopped for a snack in their cafe – they have a great sculpture garden and fountains.<\/p>\n

And just to prove that there is light rail in the Los Angeles area, here’s a station near Pasadena in the center of the highway, along with a shot of the windmill farm outside Palm Springs.<\/p>\n
