Tapworthy: Designing Great iPhone Apps

If you want to create dynamite iPhone apps, this is the book for you. It won’t teach you to program – there are books on using HTML5/CSS3/JavaScript or Objective-C for learning to build iPhone apps.  This book provides the design concepts and rules for good iPhone apps.

The book begins with how to pick a purpose for your app, then into what a small touchscreen means for design, and finishes with controls and navigation.

I appreciate a lot of the suggestions in this book – now that I’ve had an iPhone for a while I can see that many of the suggestions make sense, from sticking to doing one thing well to noting that the easiest area to ‘thumb’ is the bottom left (for righties).

I’m glad I got this book – I hope to pick a subject for a web-based iPhone app and plan to use what I’ve learned here.
