I bought this book at a local horror bookstore, Dark Delicacies. I loved the store and wanted to buy something. The quote on the cover, “Snuff is by far the single most disturbing piece of literature I have ever read,” plus figuring out what the general story would be from the title (which if you don’t know, has nothing to do with tobacco), made this a must-read.

And it is one of the most graphic and bizarre stories I’ve read. The main character makes snuff films with his friend; he gets paid big money to stage elaborate scenes that end very gruesomely. On p. 8:

“She half grunted as he lifted her up, fingering the metal blade and pulling the makeshift blindfold up from her left eye. The razor edge of it was half-way behind her eye before she screamed and the blade hit the optic nerve. One down. By the time her second eye was out, Jack’s hard-on was back.”

That teaser is not, by far, the worst things in this book; this is some truly nasty stuff. There is a cool plot twist part way through, but I warn you, I bet you’ll see the very end coming just like I did (at least 20 pages from the end). But, it is a disturbing and fun read; leave it out on a table, convince your neighbors you’re a serial killer. 🙂
