September 29, 2005 - Taormina

We got up late, ate, and walked up to the ancient Greek theatre. This required a pretty long uphill walk, including a long stairway. The theatre faces south, which is a traditional for Greek theatres in Sicily. You can climb all the way to the top of the rear, which unveils beautiful vistas of the area around Taormina. The theatre is used to this day for performances during the summer.

We found an internet point on the way to the theatre
The steps up to the theatre
A face in the steps on the way to the theatre - a different one at each flight
The sign, of course

The harbor at Taormina from the top of the theatre
The view north from the theatre

We had a very good lunch at Ristorante 'a Zammara - I'd highly suggest it for either lunch or dinner.

And we walked around and shopped - a lot!
