Iggy doing pat-a-cake on the floor

Yes, our puppy is crazy (he fits right in). Here’s Iggy, almost a year old, doing pat-a-cake on the floor.

Lip Service

Nathan wanted to check out a clothing store that specializes in custom and steampunk clothing called Lip Service. It took over an hour to drive there, but it was worth it – they make the clothes there, and they have some really great designs!

My iPhone wallpaper

When I got my iPhone of course one of the first things I did was customize the wallpaper, which is the image you see when you unlock it (and that’s the only time – hummm). So I downloaded an image of the HAL 9000 to use as a stop-gap until I could make one of [...]

Abstract photograph

I love high-contrast abstract photography. After cleaning the grill, I noticed what I thought was a cool shot, so I grabbed my camera; here’s the picture:

Ojai

Aviva has mostly gotten over her surgery, so since this is a holiday weekend, we decided to drive to Ojai.
Ojai is a town about one hour west of us down the 101. There are a number of resorts and spas there – we just decided to walk around and shop a little.
One of the coolest [...]

Aviva’s surgery

Aviva had a cyst removed from her left ovary – she thought she was going to die from the anesthesia but of course she was fine, in fact she did incredibly well. Here is a pic of her in her hospital gown before surgery:
And a couple of pics of the cyst (her doctor gave to [...]

Aviva’s birthday!

We decided to go out for dinner; Aviva wanted to try a seafood restaurant in Calabasas called Kings. The food was very good; the decor was similar to family-style seafood places in Chicago, but the food was much better. Aviva had king crab legs and I had a steelhead filet with a dry rub – [...]

The #140conf LA meetup May 10

I finally had time to crank up Photoshop and clean up pictures I took with my new iPhone.
I had a great time, although I didn’t meet everyone I wanted to meet at the event; I did get to use the Bump app (thanks Linda!) and did meet some fun folks. And the speakers were excellent, [...]

Revoltech’s Sci-Fi Alien figure

At my son’s recommendation, I ordered a Revoltech Alien figure – its quite nicely detailed and articulated. The figure holds its pose well but can be hard to shape; the “ball” connectors at the joints snap into fixed positions, and the figure came out of the box with the balls not properly oriented forwards.
If you’re [...]
