Star Trek: Enterprise: The Romulan War: Beneath the Raptor’s Wing

I admit it – I didn’t watch Star Trek: Enterprise when it was first on television – I didn’t like the show. Luckily for me, reruns returned to the SciFi (yes, it was spelled that way back then) channel, and I began to enjoy the stories of human’s early space travel. When I saw there was a series of books I started reading them – I’m a sucker for good pulp fiction thanks to my dad who got me started with James Bond and Edgar Rice Burroughs books when I was in grade school. Amazon suggested this book to me in an email and so I bought it.

And I liked it! This is a fast read and is consistent with the television storyline given the changes in the book series (one major character didn’t really die in the final episode – and I like that change quite a lot, that event soured me on the television finale). There’s lots of political intrigue and quite a few plot twists. As is common in this genre, the story alternatively follows up to four story lines that are occurring at the same time.

The only thing to be cautious about is that this is obviously the first book in a series – it ends in a cliff hanger (no, I won’t give away anything).
