Portable Firefox
Put Firefox on a dongle
I found this in the first issue of Make magazine
(I’ll put a blog entry for it under books). Portable Firefox is a Mozilla project to allow
Firefox to reside on a memory dongle – that way you can take it to any PC and
fire up the version you know and love (and configured the way you want it). It
works! I have an old 32Mb dongle with it installed (at 8Mb its a small
install). It ran at home and work (with the setting to automatically check for
proxy settings turned on). There are efforts to do portable versions of other
Mozilla tools….

I use Safari on my
Macintosh PowerBook, so I used Safari Bookmark Exporter to transfer my current
Safari set to the portable Firefox install – worked great! Now I’m going to
look for round-trip bookmark solutions.
